Critical Borders: Radical (Re)visions of AI is a conference taking place at the University of Cambridge and online from 18-21 October, 2021. This conference is convened by the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence and the University of Cambridge Centre for Gender Studies. It is generously funded by the Obert C. Tanner Lectures on Artificial Intelligence and Human Values and the conference conveners are also supported by the Leverhulme Trust, Templeton World Charity Foundation, DeepMind and Christina Gaw.
The conference will commence on Monday 18 October with a presentation by Ruha Benjamin who will give the prestigious 2021 Tanner Lecture on Artificial Intelligence and Human Values. In the following days, panelists, artists and attendees will critically interrogate issues of bordering in artificial intelligence (AI). The keynote speaker is Professor Wendy Chun, Canada 150 Research Chair in New Media at Simon Fraser University. Professor Chun leads the Digital Democracies Institute and is the author of Discriminating Data (2021), Updating to Remain the Same: Habitual New Media (2016), and Programmed Visions: Software and Memory (2011).
